A big shout-out to you lovelies out there that I have new Facebook fan page and apologies for asking all of you who were in my FB group previously to rejoin this fan page. Onward to the post…

Many were feeling blue now that the long holidays have officially ended on Monday, which inspired these creations and this post. I’m sure that blue is not always associated with gloominess and dismay, and not all the time. Before we sink into such dismal sentiments for this particular hue, I would like to invite all of you to think of skies so blue that you just admire how sublime this color is. Think of the myriad of blues in the sea as it changes in depth and mineral deposits. Think of how these two (the sky and the sea) combine to form a picturesque vista that is so healing to the mind, body and soul. Think of the mysterious blue of the night that hints of the great unknown. Think of comfortable blue jeans so soft that you can’t feel anymore snug. Think of blue…positively and fondly.

I love these blues…and I hope you do too! Wishing you all a refreshed start and another blessed year ahead.

May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.

{ let’s ear it for… } September 2, 2009

Earrings…if I ever stepped out without them, I feel bare or semi-dressed. Not that they have to be dressy all the time, I sometimes wear studs too if I’m wearing a statement necklace, or if there are too much details on my top.

Somehow, earrings seem to complete a look. For me, I fiddle with them when I’m reading, thinking, or simply staring into space, day-dreaming. Guess they help me think. Guess they have a texture that I can feel easily (without looking like I’m fondling something). Guess when they swing near my face, I feel a tad more vibrant. It’s amazing how much a simple piece of accessory, a pair of earrings, can do. And seriously, I don’t even think about it unless I didn’t wear them. So, let’s hear (ear) it for…

These earrings, in varied hues of gold, embody different styles, and for different skin color. If you have fairer skin, go for the bright gold and bring the glow out from your skin. If you have a slight tan, go for the dark gold earrings and look instantly city-chic. If you have a deep tan, both colors work so well. I love the way bright gold exhibits one’s boldness that throws all inhibitions away with that hell-may-care attitude. Dark gold or antiqued gold has that romantic feel of bygone days or that snazzy feel of our fast-paced cities.

This season, we see maxi prints dominate the runways, be it tribal, graphical or florals. Now, you can do maxi even when you are wearing black on that dreary day to work.

These wonderful combinations with turquoise stones remind one of the boldness and ‘no fear’ attitudes of the African Americans…and of course, their unique style. Don the earrings confidently with your hair away from your face, or use the chokers to highlight your sexy collarbones when you’re out in a black tube dress. Be bold…and beautiful!

Ever stood in front of a mirror and wondered how to accessorize if you are wearing a blouse with frills or a dress with details near to the neckline?

Well, keep the noise level down by avoiding huge or long necklaces. The eye has enough to see at the chest level. So, to still head out without looking overly dramatic like a X’mas tree, or downright incomplete with boring studs, create movement with these chandelier earrings to bring attention to that pretty face of yours. Dress it up and reflect that confidence you naturally exude!

Every time I fish out something from my very big bag – a pouch, a wallet, a carryall, my friends will exclaim that it’s green. Again! It seems that, without my conscious choice, I seem to always go for the color green in my accessories and sometimes, in my clothes.

It’s an easy to wear color and is often used in vintage fabrics and prints, which I love. Like blue, green is a cool color and has a calming effect. When these 2 hues combine, they echo the harmony of Mother Nature, water and forest. When worn with yellow and black (or white), green gives a outdoor sporty outlook. Purple, with green, is highly contrasting and connotes boldness in character. With neon colors so in season this spring, try it!

As the year comes to an end with X’mas parties and New Year countdowns, turn heads with shimmering chandelier earrings. Battle fabulously against the cold and turn up the thermostat with these hot statement earrings!

How do you wear chandelier earrings? A widely understood rule is to wear them without glasses. The face becomes too busy…in a bad way. I often wonder why so many still don chandelier earrings with glasses. Really. It’s very wrong!

If the chandelier earrings are dramatic and long, avoid wearing a choker or a big necklace. Keep the attention to your enticing ears, pretty face, every swing of your head and every movement as you walk or dance. It’s subtly seductive! Have fun this X’mas! *wink*

~ earrings to glam it up! ~ December 5, 2007

Earrings are not just mere decoration. They are an accessory staple that reflect our personality and style for that day or event.

After zipping up that dress & dusting on that finishing loose powder, there’s really no much time left to so-called ‘complete the look’ before we head out to the big big world. So what should we girls do when we don’t want to look bare and yet so pressed for time that we can’t afford the luxury of assessing if we look coordinated? Here’s my solution: Quickly slap on a pair of earrings, some lip balm…and off we go!

Here are some earrings that are bound to glam up your night out…what with all the wedding dinners and X’mas parties happening this month, they sure would come in handy. Minimal effort, maximum effect!

I remembered watching a certain TV show (I think it’s Sex and the City. Or is it a movie?), where a certain character said that if you see a woman not wearing earrings, it’s like she’s sending subtle signs of “Please don’t talk to me. I’m not out to have fun.” I don’t know why…but this scene is stuck in my head and since then, I’ve never left home without a pair of earrings. You shouldn’t too!
