{ two souls, one heart } June 22, 2010

Back after a brief respite…thank you for all your FB messages and emails while I was away, and your support for pling’s entry in the Singapore Blog Awards. I feel much love! And love is what inspired this post and these creations.

Whether you are happily married, attached, or single, I’m sure we all desire to share our lives and our dreams with someone we love and respect. Borrowing the popular French saying ‘deux ames un cœur’, which translates to ‘two souls, one heart’, I dedicate this wedding collection to these happy thoughts which filled my mind and heart, when I was conceptualizing, designing and creating these pieces.

For the recollection of this day, even years after…
For the start of a beautiful journey together…
For something new, something old, and something borrowed…
For those lovely bridesmaids, dear friends and mothers, who are by your side this momentous day…

And of course, you can wear these on non-wedding days to add an element of sweet romance, or a dash of Victorian charm to your getup. These bracelets are particularly wonderful as gifts for bridemaids, which they could wear in replacement of floral corsages on wedding day, and treasure as keepsakes thereafter.

{ fly away } August 20, 2009

That day, I was looking at the birds at Bishan Park during the bazaar, while ogling at the dogs that were passing by, totally distracted by the birds, children and people all round, and probably shouting in their minds ‘BIRD!’. (Those who have watched the animation ‘Up!’ would know what I mean.)

In fact, I’m not much of a bird person. The ones that plaque the trees along Orchard Road really frighten me with their excited chirps in the evening. Probably I feel that their droppings might befall on my head anytime. But, I do think our little feathered friends have interesting shapes and such adorable body lines that really inspired this range of handmade necklaces and earrings. Some of those canaries, doves, and egrets that I’ve seen in bird parks, aviaries, nature reserves and as pets, are so endearing with their round eyes and bright songs.

Sometimes, I thought how wonderful it would be to take flight. Flying away to someplace beautiful, whenever your heart calls for it, or just hovering in the skies, taking in the view below among fluffy clouds, would be simply wonderful. If only I have wings…

{ golden ears } July 24, 2009

These earrings, in varied hues of gold, embody different styles, and for different skin color. If you have fairer skin, go for the bright gold and bring the glow out from your skin. If you have a slight tan, go for the dark gold earrings and look instantly city-chic. If you have a deep tan, both colors work so well. I love the way bright gold exhibits one’s boldness that throws all inhibitions away with that hell-may-care attitude. Dark gold or antiqued gold has that romantic feel of bygone days or that snazzy feel of our fast-paced cities.

{ earth, water & flowers } April 22, 2009

This title bears a tad resemblance to “Earth, Wind & Fire” right? Ok, a tiny tad. More aptly, it’s this week’s upload on flower-themed creations with this month’s dedication to Eco-Chic.

Today is Earth Day! And what a beautiful reminder to do good to the place we share. To continue the thread on sharing, here’s a simple picture I took of a dainty little yellow flower by the roadside. I’m just hoping that wildflowers will not disappear or that flowers have shorter blooming cycles since winters are longer and spring is late to come. Don’t you think such simple, spontaneous beauty is inspiring and it would be truly disastrous to not find them anymore on the streets, growing by the corners, waiting to be discovered and admired?

Green Tip: I save water (and money!) at home using the water leftover from rice to water my flowers and plants every day. It’s really good for them as the water contains the “polished-off” nutrients from the rice and thus a natural fertilizer! Totally organic! You can also use used grounded coffee or tea leaves after your daily cuppa. And those who come to my little apartment thought, “Green fingers”. But the secret is out!

For today (April 22), don’t drive. Take public transport. Or do something “green” that you don’t usually do. Join the eco-movement! I’m sure, like me, you would like to admire these floral blessings. pling‘s little dedication…hope you like them!
