{ alice in wonderland ~ part II } March 9, 2010

On the weekend that had just passed, I went to watch Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland in 3D at the cinema. No spoilers, I would divulge.

I love the CG, the dark but vivid hues, the foreground/background juxtaposition, Alice’s whimsical stripy gowns, and the white queen/red queen battles. The story is changed from the original Lewis Carroll’s tale, giving the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) a much heavier role and injecting some romantic elements in the story. Some new characters appeared, much to my surprise. I liked some of the twists, but disliked some. Having said that, making a movie is difficult. And what’s more, interpreting a classic, particularly this story, and NOT moving this fantasy tale to cutesy-ness, if you get what I mean. I’m kind of glad that Tim Burton kept to his signature style, which is still a genre on its own. The art direction, makeup and costume design are to be admired.

After watching the film, this is part II of my own interpretation of Alice In Wonderland. Collaborating with American artist, I hope you will find these bracelets adding loveliness to your wrist, and for a fun day out! Let’s get immersed in our own version of Wonderland, whatever and wherever it might be…

{ alice in wonderland ~ part I } March 1, 2010

Inspired by the fantastical world created by Lewis Carroll in his lovely tale, ‘Alice In Wonderland’, this series of necklaces, earrings and bracelets will transport you to that whimsical dreamscape, where all the characters are so out-of-the-world amusing. I can’t wait to watch Tim Burton’s rendition of this tale, and of course, Johnny Depp’s portrayal as the Mad Hatter. I’m so looking forward to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party scene. The trailer is enough to get me super excited! It’s so dark, mysterious, imaginative, quirky and colorful!

Alice In Wonderland bracelets will be uploaded in the next week’s post. For a preview, join pling’s fanpage!

Collaborating with an American artist that I’ve come to adore, I present to you pling’s latest collection, a tribute to the bizarre tale of a girl, her dream world, and the curious characters she met in that unusual dreamscape.

Our favorite character series is back! French-inspired, these characters make me think of flying to Paris and listening to the melodic ring of the French language. Whether your passion is in cooking, gardening or flying (and I don’t mean as a bird), these necklaces speak your language as you let them dangle cheerfully on a relaxing day out in jeans and tee or a simple blouse.

And add these animals to your collection! There’s the wacky giraffe, a Eeyore lookalike and a soaring bird. Isn’t it nice to escape the mediocrity of everyday life once in while? We’ve even let our imagination run wild and imagine that a helicopter can fly us to the moon. A girl can dream… 😛
