What is love? Many authors, painters, artists and poets have grappled with this question through their art. But words and pictures can only describe the idea of love or the feeling of loving someone and being loved, but never sufficient to define it. There’s no universal, agreed-upon meaning…just that feeling that one will know when one’s blessed enough to encounter it in our worldly existence. Here’s to celebrating love…spiritual love, parental love, friendship, kinship and, of course, romance between 2 people willing and committed to share their lives together.
‘Tis the season to be loving. Share the love and it becomes bigger than sum of two. Sharing one of my favorite poems with all of you…
~ Love’s Trinity ~ by Alfred Austin
Soul, heart, and body, we thus singly name,
Are not in love divisible and distinct,
But each with each inseparably link’d.
One is not honour, and the other shame,
But burn as closely fused as fuel, heat, and flame.
They do not love who give the body and keep
The heart ungiven; nor they who yield the soul,
And guard the body. Love doth give the whole;
Its range being high as heaven, as ocean deep,
Wide as the realms of air or planet’s curving sweep
