{ all that gold and glitter… } May 20, 2010

…are not diamonds. And, just perfect for this season’s uptown elegance or rebel cool.

Get some glitter going with your delicate feminine blouse in sheer cream, or a mini-floral print dress. Think easy elegance. A touch of luxe, and not too much.

Or if urban cool is your thing, layer simple separates in jersey, denim and leather, and throw in a touch of nostalgia with a vintage-style long necklace. I especially love that vintage gold-plated whistle! This dainty thing really works! It is harmonizing wondrously with my long black tee and blush-hued biker jacket for a downtown-perfect ensemble.

{ old school } February 18, 2010

A self-professed hoarder and a hopeless romantic, I often can’t bare to throw away those everyday things from the past, especially my super old garden patio chair, my mum’s big wooden cupboard and old Singer sewing machine, and those vintage cups and mugs. Relishing the make and style of bygone (and often simpler) days, I love these pieces that transport us to those days of honey-tinged photographs, acoustic sounds, and childhood memories that seem to be slowly melting in this heat.

Here’s a blast from the past…

{ take a bow… make a statement } September 9, 2009

No eyes will be able to avert their attention from these eye-catching necklaces that make a statement. Some combine the delicateness of a ribbon with funky chic, while another uses the appeal of vintage gold. The limited edition piece, featuring a mammoth ornate crystal glass, Swarovski pearls and star-studded clasp, is sure to excite ‘oohhs’ and ‘ahhs’.

My pieces are also getting bigger, as the season goes into Fall. With the exception of the 1st vintage piece, the rest are bigger. For my lovelies out there, who prefer something funky to go with their long T ensemble. 🙂 After speaking to many of you, I’ll start on bracelets soon. Look out for them~!

As I continue my obsession with bows (other obsessions include doves, trees, ancient keys and words plates etc.), I discover that ribbons or bows can take many faces, give different feel and suit varied personalities. A little bit of this or a little bit of that would change the look and feel of a piece. Ribbon-themed shoe clips (or brooch) can be found here.

{ keys of inspiration ~ part II } July 8, 2009

These modern keys are given a twist from the past. Engraved with “Life”, “Dreams”, “Love” or “Secret”, they tell stories of secret yearnings, quiet admiration, or fantasies of another world. Like opening up doors that are closed, keys have always symbolized, at least for me, fresh opportunities and chances that are blessings from above and where beyond those doors, lies treasures that are most dear to heart – family, friendship and love.

{ squirrels and trees } April 28, 2009

The last post before the month ends is about squirrels. Alas, not much connection to the Earth Month, except that in my Singaporean-induced mind that it has to do with ‘saving’. I’m sure my fellow Singaporeans would know why. It’s a particular bank’s icon when we were all schooling and the government was inculcating early savings habit with us.

So aptly, all in the name of SAVING. Saving the Earth I mean, and you save money too. Most Earth-damaging actions cost much. And does it matter that I also think squirrels are adorable? Here’s a picture that I came across.

{ japanese vintage creatures } January 23, 2009

I know…it has been slightly more than a month since my last upload. I’ve been indulging myself – thinking, feeling and enjoying more of life and God’s many blessings, and not letting it pass me by without the admiration and appreciation they deserve. The new year breeds new thoughts, new inspirations, and definitely more beautiful pieces. I’m sure all of you will forgive my indulgences. 😛 I’m very excited about the offerings this coming year!

Doesn’t it feel great, to be able to sit with a friend and reminisce about the good ‘ole days of childhood when we could satisfy our playfulness with simple wooden blocks or Lego?

These animals wooden blocks are simply too adorable to sit on the shelf, unappreciated and without the joy of basking in happy sunlight and curious, envious eyes. By ‘remodeling’ these Japanese vintage wooden blocks, we bring you necklaces with cute creature pendants that are sure to brighten your days. Each piece tells a story. One-of-a-kind, there will not be another!

Pick your favorite now and let’s return to simpler days…

{ pop! } November 23, 2008

Pop art, popular culture, pop icons, comic and manga. The things that make up everyday life do not have to be banal. Take a bold approach and you have the pop art movement in the 50s and 60s, when the works of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, John McHale and Takashi Murakami took the stage. Like a reaction or some may say, a rebellion to the elitist view of culture, art or any other artistic expressions, pop art gives meaning to mundane objects, carousing them with parody, idealization and an unique quality that is sometimes hard to pinpoint.

Here, a series of pop icons, rendered in the form of necklaces or earrings, to lend life a little of that 60s conceptual rebellion, while still embracing what our culture has to offer us. I say, ‘pop!’ What say you? Wear. And wear it with pride.
